Best Muskoka Wedding Venues
A photographer’s firsthand guide to the top wedding venues across Muskoka
Last Updated: January 26, 2026
Muskoka has become one of Ontario’s most sought after wedding destinations for good reason. From classic waterfront resorts to intimate cottage style properties, it offers some of the most scenic and guest friendly venues in the province.
I’ve photographed weddings across Muskoka for more than 15 years and have worked at every major venue in the region. The venues below aren’t included simply because they’re well known. They’re here because I’ve seen firsthand how they function on a wedding day - how timelines actually unfold, how guests move through the space, how venue teams support couples behind the scenes and selfishly… how well is photographs.
This guide is built on real wedding experience, not a directory listing. I update it regularly to reflect changes in venues, renovations, management and overall guest experience.
If you’re planning a Muskoka wedding and want a venue that photographs beautifully and feels relaxed from start to finish, you’ll find a strong starting point here.

Northbrook Farm
ORILLIA, ONTARIO
Best for: Garden inspired weddings with a romantic countryside feel
Ideal season: Spring through fall
Standout feature: Manicured gardens with multiple ceremony locations
Located just outside Orillia in Severn Township, Northbrook Farm is a restored 1852 century home surrounded by perennial gardens, mature trees, and peaceful water features. Though technically just outside Muskoka, it offers one of the most refined outdoor settings in the region. Couples can choose from several ceremony locations before transitioning seamlessly into a tented or outdoor reception surrounded by fields and forest.
The gardens provide layered depth, soft greenery, and consistent natural light throughout the day, making portraits feel timeless and elegant.
Pro tip: Build extra portrait time into your timeline - the gardens, pond, and open fields offer more variety than most couples expect.

ROCKY CREST GOLF RESORT
MACTIER, ONTARIO
Best for: Scenic waterfront weddings with full resort amenities
Ideal season: Spring through fall
Standout feature: Private lakeside ceremony under towering pines
Located on Lake Joseph, Rocky Crest blends Muskoka’s natural beauty with the convenience of a full service resort. The private waterfront ceremony setting overlooking Armishaw Lake is one of the strongest views in the region. With suites, cottages, and villas on site, guests can stay together and enjoy the entire weekend without leaving the property.
The lakeside ceremony location offers dramatic pine framed views, while the golf course and waterfront provide clean, open sunset portrait options. The marquee tent receptions photograph beautifully in soft evening light.
Pro tip: Schedule at least 15 minutes at sunset near the water or along the course - the open sky and lake reflections are worth building into the timeline
Muskoka Bay Resort
GRAVENHURST, ONTARIO
Best for: Golf course weddings with elevated Muskoka views
Ideal season: Spring through fall
Standout feature: Cliffside clubhouse overlooking the course
Carved into the rock cliffs of Muskoka and overlooking the golf course below, Muskoka Bay Resort offers a striking all in one setting for a wedding day. The clubhouse provides a clean, modern backdrop, and there are strong photo opportunities both on the property and around Gravenhurst.
Photography insight: With chalets located throughout the resort, couples and wedding parties can get ready close to the venue. From a timeline perspective, this proximity makes the day flow more efficiently and reduces travel gaps.
